Why produce a new translation in Spanish of The ring of the Nibelung? There are several reasons: the importance of the work and the fact that it is always in vogue; the difficulty today of finding the previous translated versions; and, above all, the cultural need for this task to be addressed regularly every three decades with all the information that settles over the years.
Turner has entrusted this task to a genuine specialist in Wagner: Ángel F. Mayo, who has prepared the Chronology, the Bibliography, the Discography, the text Appendices (with material hitherto unpublished in Spanish) and the appendix of place names, with semantic explanations. This edition aims, therefore, to make a place for itself in every scholarly library and, especially, to accompany the enjoyable hours of listening by those who have the opportunity to attend performances during the concert season, or listen at home to broadcasts or recordings of the Ring.
