Una mirada contemporánea a la arquitectura a través de la fotografía

Esta publicación conmemora la primera edición del «Concurso Internacional de Fotografía Luis Ferreira Alves», un certamen bienal que celebra el legado de este fotógrafo portugués, figura clave en la documentación visual de la arquitectura contemporánea. El libro reúne los
proyectos premiados —seleccionados entre más de 1400 candidaturas de 99 países—, acompañados de textos críticos que dialogan con la obra fotográfica desde una perspectiva cultural amplia.

Más allá de un registro visual, esta edición propone un espacio de reflexión sobre la fotografía como medio de interpretación arquitectónica. Con ensayos curatoriales y un diseño editorial cuidado, el volumen también rinde homenaje a la estrecha relación entre Luis Ferreira Alves y figuras como Álvaro Siza y Eduardo Souto de Moura.

A contemporary look at architecture through photography

This publication commemorates the first edition of the “Luis Ferreira Alves International Photography Competition,” a biennial contest that celebrates the legacy of this Portuguese photographer, a key figure in the visual documentation of contemporary architecture.  The book
brings together the winning projects —selected from more than 1,400 entries from 99 countries—accompanied by critical texts that engage with the photographic work from a broad cultural perspective.

Beyond a visual record, this edition offers a space for refl ection on photography as a means of architectural interpretation. With curatorial essays and careful editorial design, the volume also pays tribute to the close relationship between Luis Ferreira Alves and fi gures such as Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura.
