In 2005 the German artist Thomas Struth had the opportunity to pursue, in the Prado Museum, his well-known series devoted to art galleries, initiated almost two decades before and in which the key figures are the works and the gallery visitors themselves. His works are a contemporary reflection on the different ways in which art is presented and on the onlooker’s individual or collective experience with the gallery.

The Prado and Turner present, for the first time, the outcome of his experience in the Museum, together with a special selection of the works, of his personal journey through institutions such as the Tokyo National Museum of Art, the Louvre, the Art Institute of Chicago or the Alte Pinakothek of Munich, among others. The book is rounded off with his latest work in the Hermitage and in the Accademia in Florence.
